Never Do Like You

I will never do like you do
Because you will never do
Like I do

I spent my days
Over empty pages
Pouring out my emotions
Trying to live my life
Through the different stages

You will never be
Like me
Because there are certain things
You will never see

You will never know
what`s happening inside
I put on another face
Trying to hide

Am I less of a man?
I don`t understand
Why am I being pushed aside
To not live my life
In a normal society
But you will never do
Like I do

I walk these streets
Like a shadow
Trying to fit in behind another
I don`t have a world for myself
Because I’ve been living
In the world
Of someone else

But now I know
I will never do
Like you do
Not at all
Because when these pages
Are filled
I put the writing on the wall
For all to see
Because I’m tired
Of hiding in the shadows
So I came out in the light
To share my story
With the whole world

New Poetry Book Coming Soon

cover of my new book entitled "Immortalized Through Poetry."

Today is not a day for writing poetry but a day to let you know what`s been happening with me.

As I sit down to write this piece, I reflect on my life and what poetry means for me. I realized that each day I live; I am one day closer to my destiny, wherever it may be. I have more poetry to write and more love to share with the world and I will not let sickness, poverty and depression steal my joy and my motivation.

Leon Pryce wishes to thank you all for your love and support on my poetic journey through life. I have written a poetry book and it has been sitting on my table for the longest time; and I know that my fans have been dying to get a hold of it. Well until I get some financial backing then I will not be able to print any hard copy, nevertheless I am working hard on the manuscript so that I can put it up online.

I know that my poems have touched many lives out there and while life goes on then I will have to continue live on. What I have to give is all that I’m able to give, and that is love and poetry.

BROKEN WINGS

In this dark world of loneliness
I was consumed by thoughts
That no one cared
About me

Laden with anguish
Because of these:
Broken wings, broken dreams
And a broken heart
A broken soul, broken life
Torn apart
Shattered like glass
Both future and past
There were no answers
For all the questions that I asked

When you came along
And embraced me
I felt your healing powers
Vibrating through me

You changed my world
Transformed my life
And gave me a new heart
You healed my soul, my scars
And rid me
Of all fears and doubts

From a sorrowful life
To an awakening
That inspired the greatest of things

You have healed my broken wings
With your hands of love
And now I can freely soar
To the highest heights

Black In Time

Let`s go black in time
Come with me black to history
Black to the mother land
Where we rightfully belong
Black in time before the Europeans
Tried to whitewash our
Skins and minds
Black to the kingdom and ancestry
Black, way black before slavery

Black am I
Not just the color of my skin
The pupil of my eyes or the hair on my head
But black at heart, black in my thinking
And black in my thoughts

Black in time
Black my story, every sentence, every line
Black every rhythm and every rhyme
Black the days on their slave ships
Heading across the ocean lines
Black the shackles and the chains
Black the whips that cut our veins
Black the blood that stained the lands
Black the heart of every whiteman
Black the husbands and the wives
Black the circumstances which changed our lives
Black the mother and the father
Black the separation from each other

Black, black, black, black
Black the struggles and the fights
Black the system which took away
our rights
Black the midnights we tried to make
our run
Black the rope on the tree that hung the ones
Who wish to be free

Black, black, black, black
Let`s go black and turn the world around
Let`s take black our civilization
Every continent and every nation
Let`s take black the white man`s dominion
Let`s take black our rightful rulership
No more subjection under
The whiteman`s dictatorship
Let`s black out the pages
of the white man`s days
And attribute the praises
to the black liberal race

Black my eyes and the things they see
Black the vision of those who preceded me
Black Marcus, Selassie and Mandela
Black Obama and the Christ
Black the life I live because of their sacrifice

This Isn`t Love

You say you love me
But this isn’t love
The way you treat me
This isn’t love

I gave you my all
But you made me
Look small

I accept you
For who you are
Made you a part of my world
My friends even criticized me
Because of the royal treatment
I gave to this little black girl

This isn’t love, It can`t be
You getting pregnant
For another man
After you proclaimed that
All you had belonged to me
No way
This isn’t love

Think again
I made straight every corner
And every bend
It is on you
That all my hard-earned money is spent
But still you run off with
Some other men

You claimed you love me
But you redefined love
Because clearly
This isn’t love

What If Life Was A Dream

I never wanted to open
My eyes
To this cruel world of reality
Because every time
I’m awake
I felt like something has been stolen from me

Going to sleep each night
Is like going on an adventure
Like surfing the
World Wide Web
And nothing is censored

What if life was a dream?
What if you could live
That one blissful moment forever
What if the happiness
And the joy
Never cease to exist
Then you could live your life
Just as if you were sleeping
Last night
